Admin UI

Product Design / UX / UI

Send Payments

Project background

Send is currently making huge strides in the development of an API specifically focused on enabling Enterprise customers in their payments and FX capabilities.

Part of the requirement for this build has required a re-design of backend systems and platforms in order to sufficiently manage this new product from an internal operational perspective.

As such, there has been a need to design and create a new operations platform/dashboard so our internal staff can appropriately manage workflows once the API is fully live and better serve our customers.

While internal, this project is also serving as the building blocks for an external dashboard offering for the future.

Process

All in, the technology/development teams are building around 9 micro-services which will work together to help establish the full API build from a backend perspective.

The majority of these micro-services will require some form of MVP UI in order to enable our internal operational teams to effectively support our customers from day to day.

As such, Admin UI has commenced (this UI is still in pre-production and not currently live as yet).

Service kick off workshops.

Working closely with the product managers, product owners and dev teams, we underwent multiple discovery and elaboration workshops to establish what was required from a MVP level. Being the design lead, it was important for me to be the voice of the internal customer, while also considering what might be required from an external customer need for future products.

Part of this also included customer research sessions to better identify and understand the needs of our external users for the external dashboard.

I designed the Accounts, Wallets and Payments (currently in flight) services.

Accounts Service

The purpose of the accounts API is the enable the creation of a new user or customer within the Send Payments platform. Each customer account is then associated with trading accounts, and it captures all relevant information related to the external customer.

In order for our internal compliance, treasury and account management teams to be able to view and manage this data received via API, we needed to build a MVP Accounts UI so that users were able to view accurate customer account information.

Wallets Service

In order for our API customers to be able to make same currency transfers and hold funds on account, there was a requirement to build out a wallets functionality and as such, allow our internal treasury team to view these customer wallets within the Admin UI.

Similarly to the accounts UI, many discovery workshops and sessions were held prior to the development and iteration of designs for the Admin UI screens which are now currently being built by the development team.

Payments and Trades Service

I have played an active role with the backend dev team, the product manager and product owner to map out business, technical and customer requirements through multiple workshops and defining of user flows.
Along with the Trades UI, Payments will serve as the focal point of the platform and provide vital information and functionality for Sends internal operational teams.

Over the next few months, work will commence on the Admin UI frontend for the Payments service, but Trades UI screen have been designed and awaiting development.

Outcome

While still very much in its early stages and yet to be in Production, the development of Admin UI is proving a necessary addition to the development and rollout of our Enterprise API offering.

Due to internal business requirements and short timelines, it is very much a MVP offering for our internal teams, but feedback has been very positive from its intended users and will serve to improve efficiencies in their day to day.

While work is continuing to be discovered on the other micro-services, Admin UI will continue to grow and develop over time, serving as an ideal base for the intended external product in the future to enable our customers in their payment activities.
